KNA Contracting offers a variety of services for the construction industry including general contracting, construction management, design-build services, and estimating/pre-construction services. We are one of the fastest growing construction companies in Southwest Virginia. Our services and projects have improved communities, school districts, and the lives of our project’s end users throughout Southwest Virginia and North Carolina.

Who We Are

KNA Contracting was founded in 2019 by Kelly and Nancy Alderman after nearly four decades of serving in executive level positions with well-known corporate construction firms. With the goal of enhancing the communities in which we build, KNA Contracting approaches all projects with the same result in mind: to deliver a quality project and build lasting relationships with owners, design teams, and trade partners. KNA Contracting utilizes our employees’ vast knowledge and experience in the industry to deliver exceptional projects with a personal touch.

How We Do It

KNA’s President, Kelly Alderman, has long subscribed to the philosophy “You don’t build a business, you build people, and those people build your business.” By surrounding themselves with industry leaders and talented, driven professionals, Kelly and Nancy have grown KNA Contracting by investing in their people. Everyone at KNA has a voice and our leaders listen. This concept has made KNA Contracting one of the most desirable places to work in the construction industry. We constantly strive to improve any aspect of our business to adapt to an ever-changing industry.

KNA has had the pleasure of working on multiple projects with the same owners, design teams, and trade partners. We understand that in order for KNA to be successful, our clients, designers, and trade partners need to be successful as well. KNA strives to create a team atmosphere on every project so we can help all parties achieve their goals. From superintendents and project managers to estimating, accounting, and support staff we offer professional experience on a personal level. Accountability

Quality, safety, on time, and within budget are the benchmarks we set forth for each project. We accomplish these things by providing an extensive review of the project documents and trade partner bids to be sure we are delivering your vision within your budget. Schedules are developed with the input of our experienced project teams and trade partners so we can accurately outline the plan to complete your project on time. Consultation visits with Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) and other entities help us ensure projects are delivered in the safest manner possible.

Meet our Team

President

Kelly Alderman

Kelly has been around construction all his life. In a career spanning nearly 40 years, Kelly has managed over a billion dollars’ worth of projects. He has held various positions in the industry over the years. From managing on site activities of major projects, holding executive level positions with well known firms, to building multiple construction companies, there is nothing Kelly has not encountered in the construction industry. Kelly firmly believes in investing in the people who help KNA Contracting grow and achieve its goals.

Executive Vice President

Bryan Petak, MBA

Much like our President, Bryan has been involved in construction from a very young age. Getting his start with home improvements and renovations, Bryan has built a career in commercial construction spanning over a decade. Earning a Master of Business Administration and Project Management, Bryan has held many positions in the construction world. Managing major construction projects in Southwest Virginia and throughout North Carolina, Bryan has built a reputation for delivering projects on time and within budget. Bryan excels at financial analysis, process and procedural development, and risk mitigation and management.

Vice President

Nancy Alderman

With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Nancy brings knowledge and versatility to KNA Contracting. Working hand in hand with her husband, Kelly, Nancy has worked in almost every aspect of General Contracting. Project management, estimating, marketing and business development, accounting and payroll, and executive level management are just some of the hats Nancy has worn in her career. Nancy is an active member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Roanoke Valley Chapter, and the Virginia Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).

Director of Operations

Danny Alderman

Danny brings with him over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. Excelling in various roles throughout his career, Danny has managed projects in North Carolina and Virginia ranging in cost from 1 million dollars to over 260 million dollars. Hospitals, veterinary hospitals, educational facilities, administration buildings, and athletic facilities are just some of the types of projects Danny has completed in his career. Danny never shies away from a challenge and has delivered numerous intricate, challenging, and accelerated schedule projects successfully over the years.

Controller

Tera Walls, MBA

Tera has been working in construction accounting for the better part of the last decade. Earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Master of Business Administration, Tera has held various accounting roles in the construction industry. Her experience and knowledge of accounting practices make her a leader in the industry. Managing accounts payable and receivable, certified payroll, accounting and payroll, and executive level financial reporting are all areas Tera has thrived in. Tera is an active member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Roanoke Valley Chapter, and the Virginia Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).

Our attention to detail and extensive experience in the industry helps ensure our clients and design teams are delivered a project that exceeds their expectations. KNA Contracting utilizes trade partners local to the projects we build to assist in the growth of the area’s economy. Our evaluation of a successful project is not based on profit margin, but the success of our clients, design teams, and skilled trades we partner with on a construction project.
